
WhatsApp has been around for several years, since its acquisition by Meta in 2014, it has gained a huge user base with over 2 billion downloads worldwide. This however does not make it the best or perfect chatting app.
But over the years there have emerged other communication chat apps with even richer features. Below are two of the best WhatsApp alternatives in 2022.
Telegram
Telegram has been around for around 9 years now, it was founded by brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov. Before Telegram the Brothers owned VK Russian social network which they claimed was taken by the Russian Government.

Telegram is a cloud-based messaging app that works on both smartphones and PCs. Its main focus is speed and security.
Over the years Telegram’s popularity has grown to gain over 1 billion downloads on the play store. The growth comes after its unique focus on privacy and encryption.
With its high-end encryption Telegram has landed into trouble many times with governments, in 2016 it was found that some ISPs blocked Telegram in Bahrain.
In Brazil February 2022, the Superior Electoral Court announced that 3 telegram channels were allegedly involved in fake news dissemination. This led to Telegram being suspended for 48 hours.
In 2015 China blocked access to Telegram Messenger because human rights lawyers used it to criticize the government.
Other countries include Cuba, Germany, and Hong Kong.
Signal is a cross-platform centralized encrypted instant messaging service that is developed by the non-profit Signal Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC.
Users can send one-on-one messages, photos, videos, and voice notes. Signal is free and open source.

It uses standard cellular mobile numbers as identifiers and secures all communications to other Signal users with end-to-end encryption.
